This book was not on my long list, but I thought I would read it anyway. It's North Of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley.

It's hard not to notice Terra Cooper.

So choosing to read this book was a smart idea. It was a book I didn't want to put down, but was forced to by my mother. Terra explains a lot of this book through things that have to do with maps and cartography. It went well with the story, and now I know a lot more about cartography. lol. Her dad is someone you just want to smack. Through out the book, all I wanted to do was scream at him. He's a cartographer who is infamous for believing China actually discovered America. Which they didn't, so he doesn't want anything that reminds him of the mistake he made. He belittles everyone in his family, including Terra's port wine stain and the art she makes. She makes collages that tell more about the people they're about than the person might actually tell you. He says they're not art. Again, I wish he could be smacked. The guy in this, because of course there is a guy, Jacob, is someone who's not afraid to tell you what you're afraid to here. I find that he seems pretty amazing in my opinion. Overall, this is a wonderful book that I think anyone will like and probably read over and over again. I may even do that and that is so not like me.
