So I haven't done one of these lately, and I'm sorry for that. I'm also sorry for the lack of reviews lately. I've been really busy and overwhelmed.

Recently on Alisha's World:
Well I participated in The Spooky Swap. It was a lot of fun. I enjoyed picking things out to send to the person I got. I hope she liked them. I really liked what I got. I love the book so far, and am almost done reading it. I also recently reviewed The Candidates by Inara Scott. Check that out if you want. I also reviewed Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick. It was amazing, and I definitely can't wait for Tempest to come out. Please read it, and you can check out my review here.

Upcoming Reviews:
Well I don't have any books recently read to be reviewed, but I do have some that I should be done with soon. I should be done with The Devouring by Simon Holt soon. So look for that review within the next week or maybe the next couple of days. I really need to get back into reading more, but I have a lot I have to finish for school. So sorry that I don't update that often.

Happenings at College:
Well classes are going ok. My favorite class at the moment is my math class, which is odd, since I've never liked math before. All other classes are okay for now, except my 8 am biology class. I am barely awake during that class half the time. This weekend is fall break, so I get next Monday and Tuesday off to relax, maybe. If you would like to know more about my experiences at college check out my other blog This is Me. I don't update it that frequently, but I going to start to, and it's mostly about me and doesn't include any reviews.

This is the end for this Update!

The Candidates

Just finished another book that I received via Traveling ARC Tours. This one is The Candidates by Inara Scott.

About and Thoughts on Book:

Dancia Lewis is far from popular. And that's not just because of her average grades or her less-than-glamorous wardrobe. In fact, Dancia's mediocrity is a welcome cover for her secret: whenever she sees a person threatening someone she cares about, things just...happen. Cars skid. Structures collapse. Usually someone gets hurt. So Dancia does everything possible to avoid getting close to anyone, belieiving this way she can supress her powers and keep them hidden.
But when recruiters from the prestigious Delcroix Academy show up in her living room to offer her a full scholarship, Dancia's days of living under the radar may be over. Only, Delcroix is a school for diplomats' kids and child geniuses--not B students with uncontrollable telekinetic tendencies. So why are they treating Dancia like she's special? Even the hottest guy on campus seems to be going out of his way to make Dancia feel welcome.
And then there's her mysterious new friend Jack, who can't stay out of trouble. He suspects something dangerous is going on at the Academy and wants Dancia to help him figure out what. But Dancia isn't convinced. She hopes that maybe the recruiters know more about her "gift" than they're letting on. Maybe they can help her understand how to use it...But not even Dancia could have imagined what awaits her behind the gates of Delcroix Academy.

I liked this book, but that's about it. I feel that it's meant for at least someone who is 13, but not too older than that. Dancia and her friend James were by far my favorite characters. I liked the parts best when James was in them. I didn't particularly like Cam all to much, and I don't think that changed even after finishing reading it. I usually like reading books about boarding schools, but something about this one didn't pull me in. I'm just giving my honest opinion, feel free to check it our for yourself.

Overall I rate this one:
OK - it was okay. Not bad, not excellent.

This is a book I anticipated since I found out there was going to be sequel to Hush, Hush. It's Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

About and Thoughts on Book:

Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.
The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?
From B&N

Warning!: This review may contain some spoilers, so don't read it if you don't want to know something that happens. I don't mean to have them in there, and there are not a lot, but I am warning you for a reason.

I read this as part of the Sneak Peak with B&N. To be honest I didn't follow the schedule they put up on the boards. How could I with how anxious I was to read this book. I didn't read all of it exactly on the day I finally got it in the mail. I at least waited to find out what the schedule was, but after I did, I didn't follow that schedule. So it was really pointless of me to even wait really.

It starts the summer after all that had happened in the end of Hush, Hush. I loved that Nora and Patch were finally together, but I am quickly crushed as much as Nora when they break up. I am as devastated as Nora is. I wanted this book to be all about them being together, but my dream is dissolved all too quickly. But it's not Patch who breaks up with Nora, she breaks up with him. That I didn't expect, but Nora has her reasons. She believes she is protecting Patch from the archangels, she believes she's protecting herself as well. A lot of what happens in this book is unexpected. Marcie, Nora's nemesis in the first book, is in this book more than the last. Which makes me want Nora to smack her or something even more, because that girl does not know how to be tactful or even remotely nice. She's the worse to Nora, and it's worse in this book than it was in Hush, Hush. Even more horrible is that Marcie starts hanging out with Patch. Do you know how many times I wanted to scream because of that? A lot!  Nora also starts thinking she's seeing her dad everywhere. Is it really him or someone out to get her? Like I stated before, so much of this book is unexpected, but something not unexpected is a cliffhanger. Nothing makes you want to read the next book in a series more than a cliff hanger. I cannot wait for Tempest. To be honest I was a little disappointed with some of this book. I wanted more Patch, but he was not in it as much as you would think. I liked that everything is explained in the end, but there is that cliffhanger that left me with even more questions than I had before.

Overall I rate this one:
LI - Loved It! It's a definite read! You should grab this book before it goes running off the shelf! It probably will go running off the shelf as soon as it comes out, so you better get it while you can.

Well I didn't post any reviews last week and for that I am sorry. I will be sure to post something this week.

Upcoming Reviews:
I will have my review for Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick up soon. I can tell you I really loved reading that book! I don't have any other reviews that need to be posted, but maybe I'll finish another book soon. I should be done reading Betwixt by Tara Bray Smith soon and some others. Of course I've been saying that for the past week, but hopefully this time it's true.
